Music

Music has always been an important ingredient in my life. As a child my mum dragged me around different stages in the community where I performed at retirement meetings, churches and festivals.
I took piano and guitar lessons and sang in various choirs. I also went to a music school for six years.
But it was the singing that really got to me. Preferably in a big choir in a big old church where the tones resonates with all breathing enteties in that room.
There is something extraordinary about standing in the midst of a huge crowd of beautiful voices which echoes all around you. Voices lifting the air, tones flying around the walls, harmonies filling you up - inside and out. Angelic accords connecting in spirit.
Music has healing powers.
"Music is God's little reminder that there's something else besides us in this universe; harmonic connection between all living beings everywhere, even the stars." - Robin Williams
And the lyrics. I love words - especially when they are connected with harmonies. But even though some lyrics are clever and at times breathtaking, they can't compete with the sense and the feelings the actual tones evokes within.
Today I listen to music in a whole different way than when I was younger. Each listen plays an important role.
"Music expresses that which can not be said and on which it is impossible to be silent." - Victor Hugo
Sometimes I dance to music, I sing along, I sit in silence and listen and I shout out loud competing with the speakers in my car. Each moment is different, but they all play an important role in my life and nourishes me like nothing else.
But the true magic happens when you let go, let the tones fill you up with no expactations and no tomorrow. When you connect with the soul of that song and for a minute lose yourself completely.
